Step 1
Click the Start button and point to Control Panel. In the Control Panel, click System and Maintenance, and then go to Administrative Tools, and system configuration. If prompted, enter the administrator password and click the Continue button. Alternatively, you can press the Start button and type "msconfig" (without the quotes) into Start Search box. Do not press Enter, and watch the search results.

You will see Msconfig.exe file. Right-click on the file and select Run as administrator. If prompted, enter the administrator password and click the Continue button. When the System Configuration window, click on the Startup tab. You'll see all the programs that are loaded automatically when you start Microsoft Windows 7 computer. Uncheck the box beside the program you want to disable. For example, you can disable Windows Live Messenger and not have to run it as a startup program.

Repeat this process for other programs to be excluded from loading automatically at startup. When finished, click Apply, then OK to apply the changes. When prompted, click the Restart button to restart the computer. You will now see your Windows 7 PC boot incredibly fast. If at any time you want to turn the program back again to the System Configuration window. I put a checkmark in the box next to your program.

Do not forget to click Apply and then OK to save changes and exit the window. Restart the computer afterwards. If you do not notice a huge difference in speed and endurance, disable all startup programs. Return to the System Configuration window and click the Disable All button. When prompted, confirm the action and restart the computer.

If your computer is Microsoft Windows 7 came pre-installed with Microsoft Windows Defender, you can use it to disable startup programs. Click the Start button and point to All Programs> Windows Defender. In the dialog box, Windows Defender, click the Tools tab and then select Software Explorer. Click to launch programs by category and see all the startup programs. Select the application (s), and then click the Disable button. If prompted, click Yes button to confirm the action. Repeat procedure for other desired programs also.

Another way to prevent running programs in Windows 7 is the scheduling task in Windows Task Scheduler. You can also edit the registry entries in Windows Registry Editor to stop certain programs from running at startup. If you face difficulties re-enable or disable the program, contact Microsoft technical support.
