What is a Microsoft Small Business Server?

more domain controllers / file sharing over the role of SQL / database of more Exchange servers and the like ...

Let's pretend that this organization has 50 servers and each has their role to do something specifically for computer networks. In theory this would mean that the company has 50 separate physical node setup in the computer room to control your computer for this company. In today's world it will be consolidated by using computer virtualization, but it's all off topic so I'm not going to get into that in this article, and will discuss virtualization in another article later.

Now pretend you're a small business owner and want to share files, share a database and shared calendars or any other roles you May want or need.

This means that you will have 3 physical servers and 3 different operating systems.

Now, with Microsoft Small Business Server operating system, you get a computer server that has multiple roles built into a nice neat package. So you can have the file server and database server and Exchange server all combined in one neat little package. It saves money small business owners.

says Microsoft SBS - Small Business Server will support up to 75 computer users / working computer. In theory it would, but in the real world, if you have 75 computers connected to the SBS server, you can expect very little effect.

From my experience I would say that Microsoft SBS servers are pretty cool if they are properly configured with the right hardware and software. I have seen many small businesses have a SBS server that were never configured properly or are used as a simple file server. In this case the SBS server is not needed and a waste of money for the business owner.

So, without getting into technical details it says what Microsoft Small Business Server does not.

If you are thinking of buying a new server for your business to know and find out if Small Business Server will benefit your organization.

Thank you for reading my article and I hope it helps you a better understanding of what Microsoft SBS -. AKA Small Business Server is the
